Despite these slight variations, Dinan has applied the extensive drone abatement technologies developed for the M3 and M4 to the G87 M2, resulting in a sophisticated valved axle-back exhaust system that enhances both sound quality and performance.
Dinan’s M2 system employs 76mm tubing (up from the stock 70mm) to reduce backpressure and promote freer exhaust flow, delivering an audibly deeper and more pronounced note. The system retains the factory exhaust valves, allowing for dual modes: with valves closed, gases are directed through the Dinan muffler, using absorption and reactive technologies to deliver a quieter, refined sound for low-speed driving. When the valves open under high-load conditions, gases bypass the muffler for a straight-pipe-like experience, producing a more aggressive and exhilarating exhaust note. This versatility ensures a balance between civility and aggression, catering to various driving scenarios.
Crafted entirely from T304 stainless steel and meticulously TIG-welded, the Dinan exhaust not only performs exceptionally but also looks stunning, with a brush finish that guarantees a clean and durable appearance. The standout feature is the quad 4.5-inch (114mm) double-walled polished stainless steel tips, which are laser-engraved with the Dinan logo.
