The 997 marked Porsche's return to the round headlights and curvaceous fenders reminiscent of the 993 and earlier era Carreras. Although the 997's picturesque styling is another milestone in Porsche design history there is still room for improvement in the engine performance department.

The IPD "Y" design plenum replaces the factory "T" style air distributor and provides substantial power and torque gains by means of a more efficient design. Horsepower gains range from 24 to 28Â depending on engine displacement and engine condition. These max power gains are experienced in the mid range where is it most useable and enjoyed.

The IPD Plenum not only delivers impressive power and torque increases but also creates a more linear power and torque band. Tiptronic customers even claim considerable improvements with more positive shifting after installing the IPD Plenums.

The specifically designed 997.2 Carrera Non-S 3.6L DFI intake Plenum is a direct bolt-on upgrade that replaces the factory air distributor and utilizes all pre-existing factory hardware including the OE factory 82mm throttle body.

The improved IPD intake design creates increased air velocity and air speed resulting in impressive power and torque gains for Porsche driving enthusiast.

The superior design of the DFI IPD Plenum provides an additional 14 horsepower at the wheels. Unlike previous naturally aspirated IPD plenums that delivered stronger gains in the mid range, the IPD DFI Plenums deliver a similar shaped power curve as the factory but are considerably stronger from the mid range to redline without any power loses down low.

Installation of the IPD 3.6L DFI Plenum is relatively straight forward and can be installed by mechanically inclined DIY customers although IPD strongly recommends installation be performed by a trained and qualified Porsche technician.
